Video · under 100 MB stays on this device · a larger file is not accepted
Change Video Speed makes one clip faster or slower with a single control from 0.5× to 2×. It is Local under about 100 MB. ffmpeg.wasm re-encodes the picture and the sound together, so a 2× clip is about half as long and a 0.5× clip is about twice as long. This is not a playback setting in a player: the downloaded MP4 itself has the new timing. Trim Video changes which part you keep. Crop Video changes the rectangle. Neither of those changes speed.
This tool is free to use.
Files under about 100 MB stay on this device. A larger file is not accepted on this page.
How to change video speed
- Add one video under about 100 MB. It stays on this device.
- Move the speed control. 1× leaves the original pace. Below 1× is slower. Above 1× is faster.
- Confirm the page is Local and the file is under the cap.
- Process. The picture and audio are re-encoded to the new timing.
- Download the MP4 and play it. A clip with no audio track is written without sound if the audio step cannot run.
Video speed questions
Is the file uploaded?
No, under about 100 MB. A larger video is refused on this page.
Is this only a player setting?
No. The downloaded MP4 is re-encoded. Its duration matches the speed you chose.
What range can I pick?
From half speed (0.5×) to double speed (2×), on one control.
What happens to the sound?
It is sped up or slowed with the picture. A silent file can still finish as video without an audio track.
I only need a shorter clip, not a faster one.
Use Trim Video. Speed keeps the whole clip and changes how fast it plays.
Does 1× leave the file byte-for-byte the same?
No. The page still re-encodes. 1× keeps the original pace, but the MP4 is a new encode.
Can I go faster than 2×?
No. The control stops at 2× and at 0.5× on the slow side.
