Who: FileLabs has no account and does not set a cookie for advertising. How: each tool page states whether the file stays on this device (Local) or is uploaded for that request (Cloud). An upload starts only when you process a Cloud tool, and only if that service answers. Why Local vs Cloud: Local tools never send the file for processing; Cloud tools need a server for that job, keep the upload in a temporary folder for the request, and delete that folder when the response finishes.
What happens to a file
- A Local tool processes the file in the browser. The file is not sent for processing.
- A Cloud tool says the file is uploaded on the page. Nothing is sent until you start processing.
- The server keeps that upload in a temporary folder for the request. The folder is deleted when the response finishes, including when the job fails. It is not saved as an account file and is not kept for a later visit.
- The result comes back to this browser. You download it yourself.
- The first time you process a video on this device, the browser downloads a video processor. That download is the program, not your video. If the program is not already on this site, it is fetched from jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net). If the site already includes it, it is loaded from this site. It stays in this browser until you clear saved data on the Settings page.

Does a video tool send the video?
Under about 100 MB, no. The video stays on this device. The browser may download the video processor, which is a separate program. A larger video is not accepted on these pages.
What does the site host see?
The host that delivers the pages sees the connection data needed to send them: IP address, browser type, and the page address. Cloudflare Web Analytics measures page views and performance without advertising cookies. Tool start, success, failure, and download counts are stored in Cloudflare Analytics Engine. File contents are not included in those events.
What is saved in this browser?
