PDF only · processed in your browser

Extract Images from PDF is for a report, a slide export, or a catalog whose photos you want as separate files — the product shot, the chart image, the logo — without a snapshot of the whole page. It is a Local tool: one PDF stays on this device. PDF.js reads the embedded image objects and saves each distinct picture at its own pixel size. The same picture painted on many pages is saved once. One image downloads as itself; several download as a ZIP. This page does not draw the page, so body text, headers, and margins are not in the files. A text-only PDF returns an error. For a picture of every page, including the words, use PDF to JPG or PDF to PNG. Photos inside a PowerPoint file belong on Extract Images.

This tool is free to use.

How to extract images from a PDF

  1. Add one PDF. Processing stays on this device — the file is not uploaded.
  2. Confirm Extract Images is Local — PDF.js reads embedded images in a worker; the pages are not rendered.
  3. Process. There is no DPI control, because each picture keeps the pixel size stored in the PDF.
  4. If the PDF has no embedded images, the job stops with an error. Use PDF to JPG when you need a picture of the page instead.
  5. Download one image, or a ZIP when there are several. Duplicate pictures are kept once. Browse sibling PDF jobs on the PDF hub.

Extract images from PDF FAQs

Does the file leave this device?

No. This is a Local tool. The PDF stays in the browser and is not uploaded.

How is this different from PDF to JPG?

PDF to JPG renders every page, text included, at 72, 150, or 300 DPI. This page saves only the pictures already embedded in the file, at their stored pixel size.

Will I get the words on the page?

No. Body text, headers, and margins are not images. A letter with no photos has nothing to extract. Use PDF to Text for the text layer, or PDF to JPG for a picture of the page.

Why is the same logo saved only once?

If one embedded image is painted on many pages, this tool keeps a single copy. You get the picture, not one file per page.

What format do I download?

Pictures download as PNG at the pixel size stored in the PDF. One image downloads alone; two or more download as a ZIP.

Are tiny marks and masks included?

No. Image masks used to paint text, and bitmaps smaller than 8 pixels on a side, are skipped. Those are not the photos in the file.

What if the PDF asks for a password?

Open it first with Unlock PDF when you already know the password — that stays Local. This page does not guess a forgotten password.
