Extract Files from PDF is for a packet that has other files attached inside it — a spreadsheet clipped to a report, a notes.txt, or a drawing bundled with the pages — when you want those attachments themselves, not a picture of the page. It is a Local tool: one PDF stays on this device. PDF.js reads the embedded-file list and saves each attachment’s original bytes under its file name. One file downloads as itself; several download as a ZIP. This page does not draw the pages and does not pull photos painted on the page. A PDF with no attachments returns an error. For pictures stored in the file, use Extract Images from PDF. For a picture of every page, use PDF to JPG. For the text layer, use PDF to Text.
This tool is free to use.

How to extract files from a PDF
- Add one PDF. Processing stays on this device — the file is not uploaded.
- Confirm Extract Files is Local — PDF.js reads the embedded-file list in a worker.
- Process. There are no options. Each attachment keeps the bytes and the name stored in the PDF.
- If the PDF has no embedded files, the job stops with an error. Use Extract Images from PDF for pictures, or PDF to JPG for a picture of each page.
- Download one file, or a ZIP when there are several. Sibling PDF jobs are on the PDF hub.
Extract files from PDF FAQs
Does the file leave this device?
No. This is a Local tool. The PDF stays in the browser and is not uploaded.
How is this different from Extract Images?
Extract Images from PDF saves pictures painted in the file as PNG. This page saves files that were attached to the PDF, such as a spreadsheet or a text file, as their original bytes.
How is this different from PDF to JPG?
PDF to JPG draws every page, text included. This page does not draw pages. A letter with no attachments has nothing to extract.
Do I get the original file?
Yes. The download is the embedded file’s bytes, with the name stored in the PDF. FileLabs does not convert that attachment to another format.
What if two attachments share a name?
The second file gets a numeric suffix so both can sit in the ZIP. One attachment downloads alone; two or more download as a ZIP.
Will page text or photos be included?
No. Body text is PDF to Text. Photos painted on the page are Extract Images from PDF. This page only lists files attached to the document.
What if the PDF asks for a password?
Open it first with Unlock PDF when you already know the password — that stays Local. This page does not guess a forgotten password.
