JPG, PNG, WebP · processed in your browser
Compress Image shrinks JPG, PNG, and WebP in a Web Worker on your device. JPG uses mozjpeg and WebP uses the WebP encoder, so the quality slider changes those files. PNG uses oxipng: it is a lossless effort control, not a JPEG quality slider.
This tool is free to use.
Files stay on this device.
How to compress images
- Drop one or more JPG, PNG, or WebP files.
- Move the quality slider. For PNG it changes oxipng effort, not lossy quality.
- Download the files, or a ZIP when there are several.
Compress image FAQs
Does the file leave this device?
No. JPG, PNG, and WebP compression stays in the browser.
Why doesn’t PNG follow the quality slider like JPEG?
PNG output stays lossless. The slider maps to oxipng’s compression effort. mozjpeg and WebP are the codecs that use quality as a lossy knob.
How is this different from Resize or the converters?
Compress keeps the pixel size and format family. Resize changes dimensions. Convert and the locked JPG/PNG/WebP URLs change the container.
